A friend told me this week that she had a ‘yoyo’ relationship with God. I think I know what she meant; that she often felt that she had strayed from God and was tethered only by a thin string to God. However, I also know that this friend of mine is an angel. Therefore, I imagined what kind of ‘yoyo’ relationship she might have with God… Let’s call her Helena.
Helena: Yo, God!
God: Yo, Helena! What’s up?
Helena: Just came to listen to you.
God: Thank you. I’m glad, because I’ve got a lot to say. Ready?
Helena: Yo, God. I’m always ready to listen to you. Go for it.
God: Yo, Helena. You are the apple of my eye. Before I formed you in the womb, fearfully and wonderfully, I knew you. I knew all you were, all you are, all you will be. I see you each day and I am proud of you. Remember that you are in me and with me, now and forever. And I am in you and with you, now and forever. Keep close to me and I will give you rest in the tough times, a hug in the sad times, encouragement in the challenging times and love always. Yo, Helena?
Helena: Yo, God?
God: Go you!
It’s good to talk
