Meditation for an End to Worry

Whatever your circumstance today, take a few minutes in the silence that comes when we allow our minds to empty.

We can do this by focusing on our breath. We don’t have to change how we breathe, rather we simply notice it. Feel the air go in and out. Notice the sensation of the air being cold on the way in and warm on the way out. Stay with that for 5 breaths.
Continue to breathe.

The air is changed from cold to warm as we breathe. Something happens. Transformation comes. Our body is telling us this very important message – transformation comes. Continue to breathe and stay with that thought for a full minute.

And just as we come to the end of our out breath, our body tells us that all things come to an end. That worry, that hurt, that problem too will come to an end. Continue to breathe and stay with that thought for a full minute.

The end of the out breath is not the end of the story, for just as it ends, our in breath begins. Experience this now – our out breath ends and our in breath begins. Our body is telling us that the end of one thing heralds the beginning of another.

And just as our in breath is satisfying and life giving, new beginnings can also be this way. Continue to breathe and stay with that thought for a full minute.
Continue to breathe and meditate on these words of Jesus,

Peace be with you

I have come to set you free

So that you may have life and have it to the full

Say each line slowly. Hear Jesus speak it to you, calling you by name and ask what it may mean to you today.

Continue to breathe and rest and be still for as long as the day allows.

Peace be with you all and always
