Love Is All
I invite you to find a quiet spot and allow yourself a little time to relax, meditate, pray.
Begin by sitting still, focusing on your breathing. Don’t try to change your breathing; just notice that you ARE breathing. Acknowledge each breath as a sign of the life you have within you.
Now, speak silently or aloud as you breathe.
On the in breath: “I am loved”
On the out breath: “I am love”
Repeat this for a minute or so. As you do, my invitation is for you to know that God loves you. Whatever your relationship with God (or even if you don’t really think there is a God) why not just spend these few minutes allowing yourself to believe and to know you are loved. As you do, you could read the following words on love and see what arises for you in your meditation.
This labour of love will be worth it- Love always is
This friend’s generosity surprises us- Love always does
This situation may seem beyond salvation but we take comfort- Love always wins
This grieving loved one is held and helped by a hug- Love always soothes
This homeless person is a brother or sister- Love always challenges
This hurt is temporary; a committed relationship is permanent- Love always forgives
This flame will never burn out- Love always continues
Love always loves.
Return now to your breathing. Speak silently or aloud as you breathe.
On the in breath: “I am loved”
On the out breath: “I am love”
Spend as long as you want on this breathing of love in and out.
With much love, Jim.
