A prayer for the weird and the wonderful
These are unsettled and often unsettling times we live in. Please join me in a moment of prayer…
For the lost and the lonely
For the weird and the wonderful
For the believer and the not yet
For the settled and searching…
For the young and the old
For the living (here) and the living (beyond)
For the sick and the not yet
For the weird and the wonderful
For the believer and the not yet
For the settled and searching…
For the young and the old
For the living (here) and the living (beyond)
For the sick and the not yet
For all of us are becoming one
A one-ing is upon us
Cosmicly coming
Always unfolding
Emerging, evolving
If we but knew
We are one
“That they may be one, father, as you and I are one”
The One came and told us the Way
We are to follow
So we pray
For the weird and the wonderful
For the settled and searching
For all
For us
To walk the path of peace together

Thanks for this Jim.
It set me off to muse on those two great words: weird and wonderful.
‘Wonderful’ has fallen out of fashion to some extent. Today we more often hear ‘awesome’. How blessed to have occasion to stop and wonder, to be awed, by whatever.. ..
‘Wierd’ – I seem to remember from somewhere far far back – was originally linked with fate or destiny. Remember the ‘weird sisters’ in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. This sense is still there when we comment ‘That’s weird’ when we notice an unexpected coincidence.
Thank God indeed for all that is weird and wonderful in our lives, destined as we are for glory!
